Circular Advanced Renewable Biofuels from Wet Biogenic Residues via Hydrothermal Liquefaction (CARAVEL)

The European research project CARAVEL focuses on producing advanced renewable biofuels from wet biogenic residues using hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL). The project aims to unlock the potential of underutilized organic residues as feedstocks for sustainable fuel production, contributing to a circular economy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

The project is coordinated by Aarhus University (Denmark) and involves 16 European partners from academia and industry.

At the University of Hohenheim, the project is led by Dr. Gero Becker from the Department of Conversion Technologies of Biobased Resources (440f).
